BitStarz has something super cool to announce! As of today, it’s possible to deposit Ethereum using MetaMask. This will make the whole process of adding this cryptocurrency to your BitStarz account even more convenient.

What exactly is MetaMask?

MetaMask is a software cryptocurrency wallet that gives you access to your ETH wallet using a browser extension or mobile app. They had 10.35 million active users in August 2021 so they must be doing something right. 

Once you have a MetaMask account up and running, you can buy Ethereum by using your debit card or Apple Pay, and then simply transfer what you want to your BitStarz account. It’s as easy as that!

Okay, but is that it or can I do more with MetaMask?

Oh, they’re definitely not a one-trick pony. Before we get into that, we have to say that the awesomeness is due in large part to the wonders of Ethereum itself. 

Not only is ETH one of the cryptocurrencies we accept at BitStarz, it also has a bunch of other features and uses that go beyond online casino play.

Ethereum uses smart contracts, is the basis for alternative reality-type environments such as Decentraland’s Ethereum-based metaverse, and is the most-used crypto when it comes to buying or creating NFTs.

And that’s just as well if you’re a bloke called Vignesh Sundaresan. This year, he paid $69.3 million for an NFT artwork known as Everydays: the First 5000 Days by the artist Beeple. So having a MetaMask account gives you access to a whole world of cool stuff and convenience – including depositing ETH at BitStarz.

How easy is it to set up a MetaMask account?

Easy peasy! Let’s use the Chrome browser example, as many people play using their laptops, desktops and smartphones. 

The first thing you’ll need to do is download the extension here. Click “Download Now” and you’ll be directed to a page where you can opt between Chrome, IOS, or Android.

 

We’ve selected Chrome. Now you’ll see a page where on the right-hand side, you’ll need to click the box that says “Add to Chrome”.

 

Next, you’ll be taken to a page where you can reinstitute an existing account or set up a new one. We’re going with setting up a new one in this scenario. You’ll then need to create a password. And please don’t make it “password123”.

Following this, you’ll be shown a video that will walk you through what a secret recovery phrase is and why it’s important. Then you’ll see a page with your personal phrase – you’ll need to click on the darkened box to see the 12 words and remember: keep them safe! This is the key to your account so if anyone gets hold of it, they can clean you out!

 

Now you’ll need to corroborate your secret recovery phrase. Click “Confirm” and you’ll be done. The next page will show your brand-new MetaMask account! 

Hit the “Buy” button and purchase your ETH with Wyre, Transak, or you can transfer your existing Ether to your MetaMask account.

There are two ways to go when it comes to getting ETH into your BitStarz account from this point. If you’re on our Home page, scroll down a bit till you see “Need crypto, buy with a card”

Hit “Buy crypto” and a pop-up window will surface. Select “Deposit ETH” and fill in your amount. 

Alternatively, click on the “Deposit” button on the top right of your BitStarz screen. Enter the amount of ETH you wanna transfer, select your deposit bonus (if applicable) and select “Play with…” 

Scroll to the bottom of the pop-up window and there will be a blue bar that says “Pay with MetaMask”. Select this bad boy. This will open up your MetaMask account window. Oh, and save your private deposit address to your address book for ease of use.

You’ll be able to see the amount you want to transfer, the equivalent in fiat money, the gas (i.e. transaction) fees, and so on. If you’re happy with it all, confirm and you’re off to the races!
