Gender Swapped Indy in Dawn of Kings Slot?
Indian Jones and Lara Croft are basically the same person. The only thing that really differentiates them is that one is a professor, and the other is a trust fund baby. Oh, and there’s the gender thing, of course. Other than that, though, they’re the same person. So, a character that is essentially an amalgamation of these two characters really wouldn’t be that surprising.
Meet Amy Dawn, just such a character created by Hacksaw Gaming for its new game release, Dawn of Kings slot.
It might be best to leave Short Round home for this one
While not featured in the name as it traditionally is, Dawn of Kings is a “Book of” slot game. While certain things do differentiate “Book of” slots from each other, the core mechanics generally remain consistent. This means little to no base game bonus features and a round of free spins with an expanding symbol mechanic. Hacksaw has, however, supercharged the standard “Book of” free spins and expanding symbol features.
Landing three golden book scatter symbols will trigger a round of the stock standard Book of Dawn bonus feature. This is the standard round of “Book of” free spins that we all know and love. Before your round of free spins begins, a symbol will be randomly selected. During your round of free spins, all instances of the selected symbol will expand to cover the entire reel on which they appear. They will, however, only expand if they will complete a winning combination by doing so.
If you manage to trigger free spins with four or more scatter symbols, you’ll trigger a round of the Triple Book of Dawn bonus. If you trigger the feature with five scatter symbols, you will also be awarded a cash prize of 1,000x your bet. The Triple Book of Dawn bonus will be virtually identical to the Book of Dawn bonus, except instead of just one expanding symbol, it will randomly select three symbols that will expand.
Then there’s the Best of Bonuses. These will be triggered when three or more scatter symbols appear on the reels at the same time as the Best of Bonus symbol. When this happens, the standard Book of Dawn free spins or Triple Book of Dawn free spins rounds will be played, but instead of just one set of spins, a total of three rounds will be played, with the highest amount being paid out. It’s essentially a best-out-of-three setup. This isn’t the first time Hacksaw has implemented this feature with Chaos Crew II featuring a similar Best of Bonus mechanic.

Hacksaw Gaming has had a fantastic start to the year with the release of 2 Wild 2 Die, Feel the Beat, Beam Boys, and Fist of Destruction. I would go so far as to say their year has been perfect thus far. Dawn of Kings slot is a stumble, though. That’s not to say that it’s a bad game. It’s not. It has some fantastic graphics and a ton of great bonus features. It’s just not unique in any shape or form. It’s just another slot that utilizes Egyptian mythology with a character that lends aspects of Indiana Jones and Lara Croft. It’s derivative, and that’s just a really unexpected turn from my favorite slot provider of the last year. What’s more, Hacksaw has proved in the past that they can absolutely execute a slot with a theme that focuses on Egyptian mythology. Hand of Anubis was released by Hacksaw in 2022 and was one of my favorite slots of the year.
I give Dawn of Kings slot a harsh five out of ten. It should be noted, though, that if this game had been from any other provider, it would have scored significantly higher.
