Impale Big Wins in Book of Vlad Slot
Vlad the Impaler is one of those titles that makes you feel pretty certain he wasn’t known for saving kittens stuck in trees. The guy’s brutality is literally etched in history, in no small part thanks to Bram Stoker’s choice to utilize the man as the basis for his Count Dracula character. But in pop culture today, we get to gloss over that part and enjoy sparkly vampires that make the ladies swoon.
Endorphina, however, is going back to the character’s horror-themed roots with its new Book of Vlad slot.
Sink your teeth into wins
The base game offers a wild symbol that will substitute for others to complete winnings combinations. However, if you’re going to sink your teeth into some big wins, you are going to need to trigger a round of free spins.
The slot’s free spins feature is activated with the appearance of three or more book scatter symbols on the reels. Once triggered, you will be awarded seven free spins which can be partially retriggered.
During a round of free spins, some of the symbols on the reels will come with a blood drop. The drops will drip into the symbol’s corresponding accumulator. Once you have added five drops to the same accumulator, the expanding symbols feature will be activated for that symbol. An extra accumulator slot will then be added to each accumulator making it a little harder to activate the feature again. You’ll also be awarded two extra free spins.
The expanding symbols feature will be triggered when enough of the activated symbols appear anywhere on the reels. Once triggered the symbols will expand to fill the entire reel giving you a chance at some impressive wins.
Does Book of Vlad slot live up to its name?
Book of Vlad slot just feels like it’s full of missed opportunities. The graphics are fine, but they really aren’t anything special. I wish they’d leaned into the horror aspect of the theme. Then you get the free spins feature, the slot’s primary bonus feature. There are some really interesting ideas there. The problem is that it’s incredibly complicated. Even after playing it and reading the slot’s information section, I still wasn’t 100% sure when the expanding symbols feature would and wouldn’t be triggered.
The 96% RTP rating is okay and the €388,850 max win is certainly larger than most. However, with a fairly average 5,555x max multiplier and high volatility, winning big will take time and cost you €70 a spin. There’s just not a lot here that’s enticing me to keep playing, which I won’t be.
If you’re looking for a few other spooky slots from Endorphina that I did keep playing, I recommend giving Voodoo and 100 Zombies a try. Alternatively, if you want to indulge your dark side give Taboo a spin.
