It’s a Krampus-style Xmas in new game Merry Scary Christmas slot
Christmas is a time of giving, hugging it out with your fellow man, and singing carols while snow gently drifts down from the heavens. Yawn!
We much prefer the Central and Eastern Alpine version where a horned demon dude named Krampus scares the living crap out of misbehaving children and assaults them with a birch rod.
So it’s with much glee that we welcome our bearded and cloven-hoofed antihero to the fold with Merry Scary Christmas slot.
Be afraid, be very afraid!
Have you been naughty or nice?
Writing untold reviews about Christmas-themed slots is enough to make us want to drown ourselves in a vat of Kentucky’s finest. Thankfully, this game has saved us from slowly pickling ourselves… hey, wait. That actually wasn’t sounding too bad.
Moving swiftly along. The graphics for this slot game are pretty funky. There’s old Krampus on the left, who does a jig when you score a win. We love the clever touches, such as the gingerbread men keyring on his belt, his patched-up pants, and the Christmas lights that glow in alternate order.
It’s all very rich and detailed and adds to the flavor of the game, which is Mascot Gaming’s first 3D slot ever.
Now this game being what it is, why would you want to wait for your reward like those poor slobs who refuse to open their presents until the morning of the 25th? Hell no! It should come as no surprise then that there’s a Risk and Buy feature baked in.
This option comes to you during the base game and after each spin. It’s the standard fare where you either risk your current win and go straight to Free Spins or buy the Free Spins at a specified cost.
Unwrap the action
The second feature is called Santa’s Gifts and that takes place if you happen to land 5 or more gift symbols anywhere on the reels. You’ll then be faced with one of 3 random options. Either you’ll score an instant cash prize, a Wild with a random multiplier of up to 5x your stake, or a bunch of Free Spins.
Whether you’ve bought your Free Spins or won them via Santa’s Gifts, the cool thing is that you can re-trigger them.
And that’s pretty much that in terms of features. Let’s have a look at the technical aspects of the game before delivering our verdict.
Krampus’s bag seems a little light but it’s still a lot of fun!
Right, so the RTP here is 95.2% which just squeezes in at the level of acceptability. The volatility is medium, the bet limit ranges from €0.20 to €50 and the multiplier comes in at 1,850x.
The top prize is a far cry from a lot of other games, at €92,500, but that would still buy a lot of bourbon… we mean an Xbox or bicycles for the kids.
OK, so there’s a bit to be desired from this game if you intend to rake in some serious cash. If you’re a casual player and you’re looking to spend some time on a game that’s entertaining, well designed, and that can generate a bit of extra spending money, then you could do a lot worse.
We’re definitely not going to suggest other reindeer-and-mistletoe options here, as you may have guessed, so in keeping with the creepy theme, check out The Twin Wins Mystery slot.
