One of the most famous toads in Chinese mythology—yes, Chinese mythology has celebrity toads—is Chan Chu. This three-legged boss of a toad is most often depicted sitting on a pile of coins or holding a coin in its mouth as his peak power move. He represents wealth and prosperity and is a popular symbol in Feng Shui. Basically, he’s the amphibious version of your dream financial advisor—if your financial advisor also had a thing for hopping around and catching flies.
In Hacksaw’s latest release, Tai the Toad slot, I can only imagine Chan Chu’s younger brother is all about embracing his older symbol’s teachings of wealth and prosperity.
Chillin’ with the toad
The Toad and the Pot is not a children’s story but one of Tai the Toad slot’s bonus features. When a pot symbol and one or more toad symbols appear on the reels at the same time, the feature will be triggered. Once this occurs, all toad symbols and the trigger pot symbol will be transformed into wild symbols or instant win gold coin symbols.
When toad symbols are transformed into instant-win gold coins, there is a chance that one of them will transform into a coin bag symbol. If this happens, one to five gold coin symbols will have a 2x, 3x, 4x, or 5x multiplier applied to their face values.
The slot’s round of free spins is triggered with three scatter symbols. During a round of free spins, the tops of each reel will feature a dragon symbol meter. When dragon symbols appear on a reel, it will add between one and five points to the dragon symbol meter above it. Double dragon symbols will add between one and five points to all dragon symbol meters of all five reels.
When a prosperity pot symbol appears during a round of free spins, toad symbols will be added to the reels. The number of toad symbols added to each reel will be determined by how many dragon symbol meter points each reel has.
Is Tai the Toad slot deserving of a juicy fly or not?
With a 7,500x max multiplier, you’ll have to be betting at $45 a spin to take a shot at the Tai the Toad slot’s maximum possible winnings of $337,500. Betting on the slot does, however, start at $0.10 a spin, which gives you a chance to win up to $750. The slot offers an RTP of 96.3% and features medium volatility.
Hacksaw is by far my favorite slot provider. Tai the Toad slot is, however, not my favorite slot game in the company’s selection. There isn’t anything particularly wrong with it. It’s a solid slot with great bonus features and well-executed graphics. It just doesn’t have the excitement that Hacksaw so often brings to its slots. It felt a bit like they were phoning this one in. There is not much more to say about that. I give Tai the Toad slot a seven out of ten.
