Rick O’Connell’s Not Around to Save You in The Cursed King Slot
If you didn’t catch The Mummy from 2017 with Tom Cruise, you’re not alone. It was extremely forgettable. I really wish they’d brought back old Brendan Fraser and his Rick O’Connell character for it. I loved the old Mummy trilogy. The first movie was terrifying for 10-year-old me, and it still holds up, although it’s a little more comical than scary now that I’m well into my 30s. But with Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz in their absolute prime, who cares about some shaky CGI?
There’s nothing shaky about the graphics in The Cursed King slot from Backseat Gaming, though. The undead Pharaoh is just the right amount of terrifying. It’s going to make an excellent Halloween slot.
Go hunting for the undead
When one of the slot’s golden Pharaoh death mask symbols appears on the reels, it will expand to create a stacked wild that will feature the undead mummy character. In addition to expanding, the wild symbol will also be given a multiplier value that will be applied to any winning combination that it is involved in. The multiplier values start at 2x and rise all the way up to 100x.
The slot’s expanding wild symbol can appear in both the base game and during free spins. During the base game, the symbol will only remain on the reels for the spin on which it appears. It will then disappear.
The slot’s round of free spins is triggered with three or more bonus symbols. During a round of free spins, any expanding wild that appears will remain on the reels, moving one space either right or left with each spin. Expanding wilds will also activate a re-spin feature that will not affect the number of free spins you have left. The reels will continue to spin until the expanding wild falls off the right or left side of the reels. If two expanding wild symbols run into each other, they will be combined, with the two multiplier values being added together.
If you’re not keen on hunting around spider web-filled tombs to trigger bonus features the old-fashioned way, you can select to purchase a round of the slot’s free spins feature.
Is The Cursed King slot frightful or forgettable?
With a max multiplier of 12,500x, The Cursed King slot gives you a shot at up to $250,000 in winnings when betting at $20 a spin. If, however, your balance can’t quite keep up with the maximum bet amount, betting on the slot starts at just $0.10. The slot has an RTP of 96.28% and medium to high volatility.
When your slot is called The Cursed King, you really need to make sure that the king in question is more prominently featured. The character offers such a strong draw when he appears on the reels within an expanding wild. The problem is that without him, the slot is a little lifeless. I wish they’d given at least a hint of the main character at all times. Maybe some bony decomposing hands curling around the reels. Just something. This is, however, a minor critique. The slot is otherwise great, with fantastic graphics and some engaging bonus features. I give this one a nine out of ten.
If you’re looking for a few other fun slots from Backseat, I recommend trying out Blade Master and Commander of Tridents.
