Shaolin Master Slot: Fear Does Not Exist In This Dojo
The Karate Kid is the ultimate underdog story—boy moves to a new town, gets bullied, and instead of therapy, he gets a cranky old janitor to train him by doing household chores. Wax on, wax off? More like free labor for Mr. Miyagi’s side hustle. But hey, nothing says “character development” like beating up a bunch of kids in skeleton costumes while a crowd of suburban parents cheer on state-sanctioned child violence. It’s wholesome, in a totally unhinged way.
Why am I talking about Karate Kid? Because I love the movie, and the Shaolin Master slot from Hacksaw has a passing similarity to the basic plot.
Everybody was Kung Fu Fighting
The Shaolin Master slot offers a fun mix of cascading reels and cluster wins. Cluster pays create winning combinations when five or more of the same symbols are connected either vertically or horizontally. Once a winning combination is completed, the cascading reels function removes the symbols involved, allowing new symbols to fall into the empty spots and giving you another chance to win.
Chi Orbs are wild multipliers that enhance winning clusters, with Blue Orbs increasing by +1 for each win and Red Orbs growing based on the number of symbols in a winning cluster. Balanced Chi Orbs appear only during cascades, combining the multipliers of any Red and Blue Orbs in view before being removed from the grid.
The Student feature awards 10 or 12 free spins, depending on the number of triggering scatters. During this mode, each reel has a multiplier that increases with every winning symbol on that reel. Green Gems can multiply these values by 2x to 10x, and Green Chi Orbs activate reel multipliers, apply their combined value to each win, and add three additional spins when they land.
The Master feature activates with five scatter symbols, granting three refilling spins. Multipliers are displayed above each reel and can be increased by Multiplier Modifier Blocks, which are either additive (2x to 10x) or multiplicative (2x to 10x). Special blocks, such as Crusher Blocks, destroy other blocks and convert their cumulative values into a new Multiplier Block. Multiplier Blocks drop to the bottom of the grid and stack, with the spin count resetting to three each time a special block lands.
Bonus Buy options are available, offering increased chances to trigger bonuses or guarantee specific features, including Chi Orbs, The Student, or The Master.
Is the Shaolin Master slot worth having to train with Mr. Miyagi?
The Shaolin Master slot offers a betting range from $0.10 to $35 a spin. The maximum win is capped at $350,000. The game features an impressive maximum multiplier of 10,000x your bet. The slot features medium volatility, which means the gameplay offers a balance in the frequency and size of payouts. The slot offers an RTP of 96.31%.
Hacksaw is my favorite slot game provider. There’s no two ways about it. However, I have to concede that not everything they create is gold, and sometimes it’s hard to see that a slot was created by the same people who brought me 2 Wild 2 Die and Densho. The Shaolin Master slot is by no means bad. The graphics are great, and the animation that brings them to life is equally well executed. That being said, there’s none of the soul or edge that I’ve come to expect from Hacksaw games. There are some fun elements to the bonus features, and the basic mechanics of the slot make for entertaining gameplay. By most standards, it would be in consideration for a ten out of ten. However, just because I expect more, I’m giving the Shaolin Master slot an eight out of ten.
If you’re keen on checking out a few Hacksaw slots I do recommend, apart from those mentioned above, try out Immortal Desire and Rise of Ymir.
