USSR Grocery slot comes with two modes, the base mode, and the deficit mode, much like the Soviet Union did too – there were good days and bad days.
The base mode has an abundance of food items while the deficit mode has bare shelves. These modes can be swapped between by pulling the Select Mode lever.
The symbols in this game are of several food items, some in jars, some in tins, and some that are fresh. In the deficit game, deficit items are included, such as empty tins and milk bottles.
Both game modes come with their own respective Scatter symbols. In the base game, it is a blue book of KGB documents, and in the deficit game it is a red book of complaints. The Wild symbol is a bag of groceries, but does not apply to the deficit game.
Frugal free spins
Have your picking with the two game modes because both of them have free spin rounds that are not at all frugal. Yay.
In the base game, players need to land 3 or more of the blue book Scatters on their reels to be awarded with a receipt of 10 free spins with a x2 multiplier. During this round, the Wild becomes an Expanding Wild and will stretch to the length of the reel it lands on to increase the chance of creating winning combinations.
In the deficit game, players must land only 1 red book Scatter on their reels to receive 15 free spins with a x3 multiplier. The Wild is not applicable in the deficit mode and unfortunately will not benefit you here.
Back in the USSR
We can’t help but sing this classic song from The Beatles when playing this game. It is far better than the music in USSR Grocery slot. The base game music is alright, but is rife with anticipation. The music in the deficit game is pretty depro – so yeah, The Beatles all the way, unless you want to hear flies getting electrocuted and crackling Russian wartime radio.

We’re not too sure what Evoplay had in mind for this game. They could have tried to make a statement with this one, or poke fun at a really brutal period, in which case that’s not cool dude.
