New York Slot Review
"New York, concrete jungle where dreams are made of..." sorry, every time I see the words New York, I immediately sing those lyrics of Empire State of Mind by Alicia Keys. Man, it is such a great song. But, I'm not here to serenade you; this review is about New York the slot game, so let's take a meander downtown, shall we?
Gameplay
New York is a 5x4 reel, 20 payline video slot powered by Belatra Games software. Symbols include Royal Card Suits (10, Q, K, and A), Bars, Glasses of Champagne, Roses, Diamond Rings, an Actor and Actress Character Symbols, and the Game Logo Symbol. The only Special Symbol is the Empire State Building that acts both as a Wild and a Scatter that triggers the Free Games Feature. There is also a Buy Feature and Gamble/Risk Feature. More detail will be given in the Features section.
As far as controls go, they are all neatly located at the bottom of the reels. From left to right is the Buy a Bonus button with the Menu icon below that expands to the Bet, Sound, Language, Auto Start and Risk Game Settings, Home, Full-screen, and Paytable. Next is the Credits window, adjustable Bet window, Win window, Auto Start button, and Spin button. On either side of the reels is an adjustable Lines button.
Features
The features in New York include the Empire State Building that acts both as a Wild and a Scatter that triggers the Free Games Feature, and the Gamble/Risk Feature.
The Empire State Building Wild Scatter as a Wild, substitutes for all symbols to form potential winning combinations and only lands on reels 3, 4, and 5.
After each win, you have the opportunity of selecting the Risk button that pops up to play the Gamble/Risk Feature. You can choose your Risk/Gamble game in the Game Settings to be either a Red or Black game or Card Dealer Game. If the flashing card lands on the colour you selected in the Red or Black game, you will double your win. If not, you will lose everything. In the Card Dealer game, if the card that is revealed is higher than the dealer's card, you win double, if not, you will lose.
If you don't have the patience to land the Free Games Feature, buy it via the Buy a Bonus button for 63x your stake.
Unique Features
As a Scatter, you need to land 3 Empire State Building Wild Scatters on reels 3, 4, and 5 to trigger the Free Games Feature, awarding 10 free games with those Symbols remaining in position during the feature as Wilds. If they land on the top row, they will expand to fill the entire reel. During the feature, if you land an Actor and an Actress Symbol next to each other on reels 1 and 2, 10 more free games will be awarded (up to 100).
Performance
New York portrays a slice of life of what New York is all about, with glitz, glam and everything in between. The features are kept at a minimum, but can result in some glamorous wins. The design, animation, and graphics are well executed. The volatility is medium and RTPRTP stands for “Return to Player.” The RTP describes the total bet amount that a game returns to players over millions of spins, and that figure is represented by a percentage. Table games, such as Roulette, typically have higher RTPs than many slots.
RTP needs to be considered in conjunction with a game’s volatility rate. is at a disappointing 94.13%.
Max Win
The max coin win is 800 000 coins.
Conclusion
Ah, New York, the city of lights and one that never sleeps. That is probably because of all the lights, I literally just thought of that, anyway, enough of my crazy mind. New York spins pretty well on the reels but lacks the dazzle in the features department. I'm not sure if I will revisit this version of New York any time soon, but you may very well love it. I'm now craving to have a big apple for some reason.
