Cherry Bomb Deluxe Slot Review
There are a few definitions of "cherry bomb" in the urban dictionary:
- A muffler that's only purpose is to cause a noise.
- A red explosive device which is reminiscent of a cherry.
- A curvaceous female.
Right off the bat when I read my review list and saw “Cherry Bomb Deluxe," I dismissed the muffler as a game premise. I mean – I know that developers are hungry for themes, but that would be a bit weak – am I right?
So – I was left with 2 options and filled with hope. Could this be an entire Booming Games video slot dedicated to beautiful women? Could management have been so kind to me?
Then I found the game – arggghh!! No!! Damn you Head Copywriter Larry! Not one curvaceous redhead, blonde or brunette in sight!
I stifled my disappointment and decided that it shouldn't impede my review. A friend told me the original Cherry Bomb was a blast, so I was hopeful this sequel might be equally entertaining. Beginning the game (which you can play on any device or platform) is festive and exciting. I gotta say, within a few minutes I was in a good frame of mind and ready for action. It's frothy fun – so unwind and play with some explosives! (How often in life can one say that in a good way?)
Gameplay
Cherry Bomb Deluxe has 5 reels, 10 paylines and plenty of explosive payouts. The symbols are a detonator, volcano firework, pair of red cherries, various color fireworks, red, green and yellow cherries.
The detonator is the scatter while the pair of red cherries serves as the wild.
Game controls are pretty simple with Bet Per Line, Lines, Win display, spin, Autoplay, Bet Max and Gamble all lined up.
The Autoplay is simple but does the job well enough, just make sure you remember its running because the only stop setting is the number of spins set.
Features
10 Free Spins with an expanding symbol are triggered by 3 scatters. Before this feature starts you need to choose what the expanding will be. When expanding symbols appear on three or more reels, they expand vertically over the whole reel, after which, only these expanded symbols are paid, if any are on the paylines. If you happen to lose your internet connection before choosing an expanding symbol, it will automatically be chosen for you and be ready on your return.
A gamble function gives you the option of double or nothing bet on your profits after each winning spin. Its a basic of red or black choice, but instead of cards, it's cherries. If you're on a streak, you can carry on pressing your luck after successful choices, but when your profits hit nil, you're sent back to the main screen.
Unique Features
3 wild symbols activate a 2-Way-Pay feature. For the next 10 spins, all winnings will be counted both left to right and right to left. If you're lucky enough to get 3 more wilds during these spins another 10 more 2-Way-Pay spins are added. There's a 2-Way-Pay counter that displays the number of spins left. (This is always on display in this mode)
Getting 3 scatters in 2-Way-Pay mode automatically sends you to 10 Free Spins, and the balance of you 2-Way spins are put on hold until after the 10 Free Spins are completed.
Performance
The graphics are sharp and bright, with the accompanying John Phillip Souza inspired music almost compelling me to salute at the screen. (I liked it – at a low volume!) Despite all the bangs, nothing blows up performance wise. It works great with no issues.
Conclusion
Sometimes it's refreshing to have a lack of theme but some nifty features. I think Cherry Bomb Deluxe falls into this category. It doesn't have a complicated story, but it's pure gambling fun without distractions. So explode into action and give it a try – it might not be the type of "cherry bomb" you had hoped for either, but I promise it will thrill you!
