1 Mega Reel Slot Review

I’m definitely partial to a single-reel game on occasion. They’re usually as simple as Jaden Smith, and if you’re wondering why I say that, just check out this tweet from the teen genius:

“How can mirrors be real if our eyes aren’t real?”

I hope his old man slapped him after reading that pearler.

Anyhoo, I digress. Simplicity was supposed to underpin the next game – 1 Mega Reel slot from Mancala – but things aren’t always what they seem…

Gameplay

Mancala didn’t spend much time designing 1 Mega Reel slot’s background, but the rest of it looks aight. Maybe even a bit better than all right – the fruit on the reels virtually jump off the screen thanks to the level of detail.

As for the soundtrack, the techno freaks among you are going to have a field day. As for the rest of us with decent taste in music, the MUTE button will get fingered quicker than Katherine Moennig at a lesbian’s tea party.

So, 1 Mega Reel slot offers a sub-par RTPRTP stands for “Return to Player.” The RTP describes the total bet amount that a game returns to players over millions of spins, and that figure is represented by a percentage. Table games, such as Roulette, typically have higher RTPs than many slots.

RTP needs to be considered in conjunction with a game’s volatility rate.
of 95%, and it comes with a medium volatility rate. That usually means a modest max win but, in this case, modest would’ve been a blessing. Instead, the most you can hope to clinch here is only €43,200.

Jaden probably makes that much for putting on his underwear in the morning.

Looking at the symbols, we find Scatters and Wilds with Wilds replacing all symbols other than the Scatter.

Wilds add a symbol to the collection meter to the left of the reel – a random symbol if you have nothing in the counter, or 1 symbol of each type if you’ve already collected some.

There’s also a Special Re-spin symbol (the arrow), which appears only during the base game. It does what it says on the tin: you’ll get a re-spin without staking a bet.

Features

Check out that meter thing at the top of the reel – that’s known as the Life Bar. The game's goal is to land 3 identical symbols while the Life Bar is full.

You’ll see how many of each symbol you’ve collected in the meter to the left of the reel. So, you wanna land 3 oranges, or 3 watermelons, etc while the Life Bar is full and that will result in their concomitant multiplier being applied to your win.

So, how do we fill the Life Bar? Easy! Hit any symbol and you’ll get 3 hearts. Hit the space between the symbols and you’ll lose a heart each time.

To fill the Life Bar if you’ve lost 1 or 2 hearts, you’ll need to land either 1 or 2 of the original “triggering” symbols. Make sense? It took me a while to figure this out as the description on the Info page wasn’t very clear.

FREE SPINS:

Collecting 3 bell Scatters while your Life Bar is full gets you into the Free Spins round, and you’ll get 15 spins as a result.

At the start of things, your Life Bar will be filled, and the Second Chance feature will also be triggered. The latter means that the line pointer cycles through 3 positions and will stop randomly – this action can add additional symbols to your collection.

In other words, if you land a BAR on a spin, you’ll see the pointer do its little dance and it could land on either the BAR (adding the symbol again to your counter), or on one of the empty spaces (lose a heart) without the reel having to spin.

Scatters and Re-spin symbols don’t appear during Free Spins.

BUY BONUS:

You can buy your way into the Free Spins round for 42x your bet. You’ll also get 3 hearts, and the Second Chance feature will be activated, as it does when you trigger Free Spins organically.

Performance

Being the simple game that it is, 1 Mega Reel slot performed flawlessly on my various devices. I tried it out on Safari and Chrome, which also worked a treat.

Maximum Win

Dismal – that’s the only way to describe the €43,200 max win and the 240x multiplier. The knock-on effect is that you’d have to sustain your betting at €180, and who has pockets deep enough for that, especially when the top prize is so low?

Better to bet from 5 euro cents upwards to whichever level you’re comfortable with.

Conclusion

I have a few issues with this game. Firstly, it took a bit of thinking (which is not my favorite pastime) to work out the whole Life Bar thing, as the information wasn’t immediately clear.

The max win and max bet situation are far from ideal, and another unexpected downside to the game is that it doesn’t look very good on a mobile phone in either orientation. I mean, you can still see what’s going on, and the controls are big, at least, but it’s not the greatest experience.

I didn’t find many positives, with the only one being that the action is quick once you understand the rules. So, if you like fast-paced, simple games, this one could work for you. As long as you either don’t want to chase the big bucks or you have Jeff Bezos-level pockets.
