Gem Rocks Slot Review
A slot revolving around various gemstones.
Mmm...what can I write for the introduction?
Well, seeing as though I get paid according to the number of words, why don't I bulk things up with some arbitrary trivia about gems:
-
Diamonds are the hardest gemstone while amber is the softest (Makes sense – otherwise, how could those insects be trapped in amber with the dinosaur DNA?).
-
The Queen of England's jewelry collection is valued at over 50 million dollars ( Shew – and who said colonialism didn't ever benefit anyone?)
-
In the middle ages, many blonde women would wear Opals to protect their hair color (Shame even so long ago, dim-witted blondes were duped!).
-
Diamonds and Rubies are not only coveted for their beauty but also for scientific use in lasers.
Don't you feel smarter now?
You're welcome!
Gem Rocks is a Yggdrasil video slot designed to work on your P.C, mobile device or tablet.
OK – TIMEOUT: A MESSAGE TO THE CREATORS – what's with the name of your company? When it's time to re-brand, gimme a call, I could think of 312 000 better names off the top of my head.
Anyway sorry for that detour. Gem Rocks is a visually stunning game which weaves humor in, right from the start. There's a gem monster that contributes to the chuckles and who makes this game unique. I felt like I was in a surreal cartoon mine. It was just a pity I couldn't reach into the screen and pluck out any of those gorgeous gems!
Gameplay
Gem Rocks is a 6 reel and 4096 payline (or ways to win) slot, making it one the least volatile slots around. The symbols are a variety of gemstones in different shapes and colors. Do you want to know what they all are? Well, call a friggin Gemologist then!
The reels don't spin, but the symbols rather fall into place and any that form a winning combination explode, leaving room for others to fall and take their place (thereby giving another chance to win).
The controls are gorgeously designed and fit the theme perfectly. Along the left are multiplier displays (which I will explain a bit later). Down below in an expandable plus sign are Info (including Paytable), Game Settings (including Advanced Autoplay Options) and Rules. Finally on the bottom of the game screen are Ways (i.e. lines), Coin Value, Cash Bet, Max Bet, Spin, Autospin, Win, and Balance.
Features
Because there are so many different ways to win, the paylines are a bit different:
-
Landing 3 or more identical symbols anywhere on consecutive reels awards a win.
-
Landing additional identical symbols on a reel multiplies that win.
The monster rock is key to big wins in Gem Rock. After 2, 5 and 9 consecutive dropdown wins, the giant monster rock symbol falls. The size of the monster rock symbol increases each time:
2 wins = 2X2.
5 wins = 3X3.
9 Wins = 4X4.
Unique Features
Win up to 9000X your bet!
Performance
Gem Rock destroyed all my performance tests for a perfect rating. The animations are brilliant, and while there is a limited amount one can do with gems, the graphics are nonetheless excellent. The music is perhaps a tad dramatic, but the sound effects add nicely to the theme.
Conclusion
As original as the name of its creators (and a lot more appealing), Gem Rocks takes us on a unique experience providing an astounding amount of ways to win. Its sheer playability, coupled with its originality, make this slot a hidden...gem.
