Potion Spells Slot Review
Many cultures tell tales of love potions – Tristan and Isolde, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, et cetera.
Of course, in this day and age, no one needs love potions – all you need to get the fairer sex’s attention is money and/or fame, and if you throw a supercar or a private jet into the mix, then you’re sorted.
Hey, it clearly worked for Trump coz he ain’t no oil painting, I think we can all agree.
For the rest of us poor slobs, we’ll have to rely on a windfall to get us eyeballs deep in lady flesh. Let’s hope Potion Spells slot from BGAMING does the trick.
Gameplay
BGaming hasn’t exactly gone all out with the design of this one, it must be said. The setting is a wooden room with a broomstick and a bookshelf in the background. There’s also a bubbling cauldron to the left of the 7-reel grid and you’ll find some glass potion bottles, too.
You’ll notice that the game works on a Tumble system; in other words, any symbols involved in a win are removed. Fresh symbols will then take their place, meaning even more chances of scoring a win.
And speaking of wins, the objective is to land 5 or more similar symbols on a single spin – either vertically or horizontally – to form a cluster.
If you like playing slot games on a mobile phone or tablet, you’ll be happy to know that Potion Spells slot is up for the job. Portrait mode was my preferred way of playing but there’s nothing wrong with rocking it in landscape.
The Wild (it’s just a plain “W” on a scroll) substitutes for all symbols. Other symbols include a frog, mushroom, feather, and eyeball. The lower-paying symbols are all potion bottles.
There are also Big symbols in this game; these come about when 4 similar symbols drop adjacently in the form of a square. They’ll form a 2x2 symbol and if this is involved in a winning combination, the win amount will be doubled.
If you’re super lucky and a whole whack of Big symbols are involved in a win, their multipliers will be multiplied with each other and applied to your win.
Every symbol that’s part of a winning combo subtracts 1 point from the Progress Bar, which initially starts at 100 points. An additional feature will be activated for every 25 points you knock off. These features, which are chosen randomly, are:
Detonation
Reduction
Separation
Promotion
Then there’s a thing called the Backlit symbols. A randomly chosen low-paying symbol will start shining after each spin. If these Backlit symbols are involved in a win, they’ll disappear and 2 Wild symbols will take their place.
For each spin that didn’t result in a win, there’s a chance that a random symbol can turn into a Wild.
Like many other games, this one is deceptive in that it looks all cute and innocuous but be warned: the volatility rate has been set to very high. As a result, the max win is €240,000.
The RTPRTP stands for “Return to Player.” The RTP describes the total bet amount that a game returns to players over millions of spins, and that figure is represented by a percentage. Table games, such as Roulette, typically have higher RTPs than many slots.
RTP needs to be considered in conjunction with a game’s volatility rate. is 96.25 % and there are no currency limitations so you can play with the fiat or crypto of your choosing.
Features
DETONATION:
When this feature comes into play, 3 to 6 symbols are turned into Wilds. Each will destroy 4 symbols around it (and other symbols will take their place).
REDUCTION:
This feature destroys all low-paying symbols (but there’s no payment when that happens).
SEPARATION:
Here, a Wild will appear in the center of the grid, and any diagonal symbols are turned into the same random symbol (Wilds won’t be affected).
PROMOTION:
In this case, a random symbol turns itself and all similar symbols into the same one.
THE POT:
This feature comes about when the Progress Bar counter hits zero – at that point a 3x3-sized Wild symbol will appear. In its second appearance, it’ll take the form of 2 Wilds of 2x2-symbol size, while the third time will see it become 9 individual Wilds.
BUY BONUS:
For 100x your bet, you can trigger the Pot feature.
Performance
There were no glitches or snafus while testing Potion Spells slot. It worked a treat across all my devices and browsers.
Maximum Win
It’s good news all round: a 12,000x max multiplier, a €240,000 max win, and a betting range that starts at €0.20 and heads north to €20.
Conclusion
Potion Spells slot was a super enjoyable game to play. The animations give it a lighthearted feel, but it rocks a bad-ass volatility rate and a €240,000 max win, so this is a game for serious players.
Thanks to all the features and special symbols, there’s almost always something going on, so you don’t miss not having a dedicated Bonus round or Free Spins. And that was the best part for me – the constant action.
Add to this the fact that you can play the game on the go, and you’ve got yourself a winner.
