The Emirate Slot Review

There's no denying that oil has brought some humungous wealth to parts of the Arab world. With it has come opulence and some increasingly bizarre ways to show prosperity.
Cars are one way:
Every heard of the Sheik with the solid gold Mercedes Benz?
Or the infinite array of customized sportscar collections?
Luxurious mansions are another way – complete with gold toilet seats and exotic pets.
And finally, the abiding entourages..

Make no mistake – all these comments stem from a place of pure jealousy!
(I wouldn't have exotic pets – firstly it just doesn't appeal, and secondly, I'd be scared poopless at the prospect of a wild animal that's been tamed. Yeah sure it's all OK till somebody loses an arm! But, apart from that, everything else appeals.)

Endorphina has created a video slot called The Emirate which pays homage to this wealthy clique. You can pretty much play it on any device – P.C, mobile device or tablet. Naturally, there's a lot of gold in the design! Its steeped in a mixture of elegance and opulence that's prevalent in wealthy Arab circles. It's done very tastefully and almost reverently - with this sort of subject matter it's easy for a game to stray into being a parody, but not so here.

Gameplay

The Emirate is a high volatility 5 reel and 5 payline slot. The symbols are a young sheik, his wife, blinged up car (of course), various gold ornaments, a skyscraper and a gold palm leaf (which is the scatter).
The solid gold controls are fit from any sultan or sheik. Up top is the Credits display, while below is everything else needed: Bet, Menu (including Paytable), Total Bet, Auto, Stop and Lines. Truth be told I found the Paytable and General Rules a bit sparse and lacking detail.
There's also no Turbospin, but I never missed it one bit.

Features

  • After each winning spin in regular play, there is a Take Risk option in which you can gamble your profits on a card selection. If your choice is higher than the dealers, your bet is doubled.

  • The golden palm provides some impressive scatter wins

Maximum Win

The Maximum win is a whopping 500 000 coins. Yehaa gonna get me one of them fancy gold cars!

Performance

The graphics capture the trappings of the gaudily rich perfectly while the music accentuates the cultural history. The sound effects, however, are not much to write home about.
Performance wise I had zero issues on any platform tested.

Conclusion

There can be quite a wait between winning spins in The Emirate, but when they do come along they are usually extremely rewarding. I can't sugarcoat the fact that there's a distinct lack of features in this game, but, it's still a lotta fun to play. So, if you're looking for a highly volatile slot with a strong theme – this one's for you!
