West Town Slot Review

Howdy partner. I've just found out tonight is the perfect night for me to whip my cowboy outfit out the cupboard and play dress up. You see it's my fourth anniversary with my girlfriend...just kidding, I've been asked to do a review on the BGAMING video slot West Town, and I take my job semi-seriously. So – time to get into character!
I could easily be a cowboy – certainly I'd be able to help recreate the iconic “post baked beans” Blazing Saddles fireside scene. Seriously though, the stereotypical cowboy embodies every ultra-macho trait known to man. Whether it be pinpoint lightning accuracy with a revolver, trick riding or my personal favorite, striking a match on their beard; cowboys embody the rough and tough male.
Anyway – back to my review: West Town is designed to work on all devices and has a classic gunslinger feel from the start. The main street of a small western town is where all the action happens and that serves as an excellent background. I half expected a tumbleweed to come outta my screen…
I tucked into my baked beans, released a “way too loud for the office” fart and started to spin…

Gameplay

West Town has a very high level of volatility with 5 reels and just 9 paylines. I suppose that suits a western gunfight theme!
The symbols would all look in place at the local saloon: 10-Ace card icons, royal flush, jockey bandit, wanted poster, bandit, whiskey, sheriffs bloodsoaked badge, chest and gun.
The joker is the wild and can replace any card symbol.
The BGAMING control panel is perhaps a bit modern for this style of slot, but functionally it works very well. On the top you can find Provably Fair details (I'll chat about that a bit later) and General Settings (including Autospin Advanced Options, Paytable Info and Rules).
Below are: Balance, Line Count, Max Bet, Spin, Autospin, Bet Value and Total Bet.
Hold your horses – there's no Turbospin, so you'll have to enjoy this slot the way it was intended to be!

Features

Scoring a combo of wanted poster, sheriffs badge and bandit symbols scores you 10 free spins for every bandit that's on the reels.

Unique Features

A royal flush appearing in the center row (payline 1) gets the total payout multiplied by 5!
West Town is a Provably Fair Game: One which can be verified for fairness after each spin. This gives players a bit more peace of mind and hopefully will become more widespread in the industry.

Performance

West Town shot through all my performance tests with deadly force, scoring top marks. The graphics are superbly drawn, especially the background, while the sound effects add nicely to the theme. The music can get a bit tiresome, but after a few hours, almost anything would.

Conclusion

Surprisingly, this theme is not widely used in slots, and rarely so convincingly. There's superb attention to detail, and while there aren't a slew of features, the ones that are present are brilliant. I thoroughly enjoyed occasionally hitting a flush and loved the free spins.
I can heartily recommend that you saddle up and get ready for some action. Yeehaa!
