Jacks or Better - Platipus

I’ve always been terrible at playing cards. ♠️♣️ Poker or blackjack, you name it. 🃏

When I was a student we used to play all sorts of card games, and I’d always have to choose between buying dinner 🍔 or hanging out with my friends (and losing all my money) 💸

I always chose to hang out with my buddies; losing the money was just the cost of spending time with my friends. 😊

Now I’m older, wiser, and still suck at playing card games, but at least Jacks or Better by Platipus Gaming is easy to understand, and I actually stand a chance of winning. 🎰♣️

Gameplay

This is one seriously chilled card game.

The objective of this game is to get a hand that is better, or equivalent to a pair of Jacks.

You can play 1, 10, 25, or 50 hands simultaneously. Press the Deal button to start the game with your chosen number of hands and bet amount.

Here's how to play:

  • Place your bet and receive five initial cards.
  • Click on the cards you want to keep. Any cards not held will be replaced when you press Draw.
  • The Draw button will replace the cards you didn't hold in all hands.
  • If you select Auto Hold, winning card combinations will be held automatically after dealing. You can also choose to hold all cards or none, depending on your preference.

The pay table shows the winning hands and payouts. The Thunder button activates the fast game feature, resolving all hands automatically.

Cards are re-shuffled after each round.

After winning a round, a pop-up with two buttons, "Gamble" and "Collect," will appear. These buttons let you either try to multiply your winnings with the Gamble Bonus Game or collect your payout. To play the Gamble Bonus Game, press "Gamble."

You need to guess the color or suit of a face-down card. You can guess the color (Red or Black, with Diamonds and Hearts being Red, and Spades and Clubs being Black) or the suit (Diamonds, Hearts, Spades, Clubs).

If you guess the color correctly, you double your prize, and if you guess the suit correctly, you quadruple your prize. If you guess incorrectly, you lose your payout.

If you guess correctly, you can either claim your increased winnings or continue gambling, up to five times in a row.

If you press "Gamble" by mistake or change your mind, you can cancel the game by pressing the cross button in the top right corner of the pop-up.

Conclusion

What you see is what you get with this simple card game. Choose the number of hands you want to play, and then hope for the best!

I like that this game gives you the option to gamble your winnings, but with a narrow betting range that’s at the lower end, the max win is chump change.

That doesn’t make this game any less enjoyable though.

PaylinesPaylines are preset lines that run across the reels, and when you land matching symbols on them, that will result in a payout. The more paylines, the more ways you can win, but also the higher your bet per spin.: NA
Volatility RateSlot games can have low, medium, high, or extremely high volatility rates (or a combination thereof).

The less volatile the game, the more often it should pay out, but the lower the amount, the less the payout, as this is in keeping with the risk you’re taking. Volatility rate should be considered in conjunction with a game’s RTP.
